Hexagons and Bars I
The Hexagons and Bars pattern is multi-layered and fascinating. I used this pattern as the basis for my logo, and it's based off of an origami pattern with closed back hexagon twists on one side and a flagstone arrangement of open back triangle twists on the other. Look for 6-fold, 3-fold, and 2-fold rotational symmetries in this pattern and also the underlying triangular grid.
This piece is framed in an open, 2" deep shadow box with a built-in hanging mechanism on the back. The fabric tessellation within was made from a single sheet of fabric, and stitched into shape by hand. The frame is 14" wide and 10" tall. Since the frame is open, I recommend dusting occasionally with compressed air.
This is a one-of-a-kind original piece by Gathering Folds and was made in 2020.
Hang this piece out of direct sunlight to maintain the vibrant color of the fabric, and enjoy!
