Red Celtic Weave smocked tessellation
The Celtic Weave smocking pattern was adapted from the back of Robin Scholz's Celtic Circle origami tessellation. It is unique in the weave patterns I've worked with so far in that it only has one connection under each bar instead of two, which would always fully determine the outcome. See if you can spot the 6-fold, 3-fold, and 2-fold rotational symmetries in the pattern.
This piece is framed in an open, 2" deep shadow box with a built-in hanging mechanism on the back. The fabric tessellation within was made from a single sheet of fabric, and stitched into shape by hand. Since the frame is open, I recommend occasional dusting with compressed air.
This is a one-of-a-kind original piece by Gathering Folds and was made in 2020.
Hang this piece out of direct sunlight to maintain the vibrant color of the fabric, and enjoy!
